That's a beautiful set up. Here check this one out. When you all stop laughing I'll tell you what it's all about. The name of this photo is "I'm growing milk jugs"
Another view of my milk jug garden:
Okay now here's the story. I have a flea beetle problem. A big one. I can't keep those little SB's off my sprouts. I dust them with seven. I dust them with diatomacious earth and I dust them with a mix of the two. These products work fine until it rains then the little buggers attack. Mercilessly. I put my plants under milk jugs till they're almost pushing out the top then I take the jugs off. I've won. . . LOL
*************************************************************
These next two pictures are my answer to someone who asked a few weeks ago about seeds freezing. Are they still viable if they get caught outside and freeze. Here are sprouts from seeds that spent all of last winter out in my barn. We had several nights in the low single digits.
Here they are in the pot one over to the left of the ones in the upper right hand corner of my cold frame.

hi,
Thanks for the pic! Can I ask how for between the plants in-row these are? I would also like to see a close up of a plant in the ground with something for scale so I can see how big they are and some details, like what kind of tobacco is it? Where are you and have you grown it before? How much cured leaf do you expect per plant and how do you cure it? How do you store it once cured for aging?
I'm planting about 240 - 300 plants myself in N. Central Texas, clay soils I amended with much horse manure compost and the 120 plants I have out so far seem to be doing ok.
Thanks in advance for your reply,
Bob |

Russ, no I don't have any ....yet! As I said on the other forum, this is the 4th time I've grown tobacco and the last 3 times I grew a burley, which I saved seeds from but can't seem to locate now. This tobacco seed was bought recently from New Hope seed company and I'll make plenty of seeds to use for next year and to pass around.
Dan, cool milk jug garden. Some day I'll post a pic of my Old Appliance garden....
