Hmmm...so Dan, are you saying that for smoking, chewing, snuff, etc, the 'ripe' tobacco leaves are yellow?
In that case, I will have to cut/dry my GREEN plants for the purpose I need them for.

The leaves I am showing in the picture above are from my #11 and #14 plants. Both are cigarette tobacco. The #16, 12, 13, 9, are all cigar tobacco's they are different. They don't yellow. You harvest them when the leaves start loosing their dark green color and start mottling. That happens from the bottom up. With these, if you aren't topping them off, you could also tell they're ready for harvest when the flowers are gone and some of the pods are turning brown. Always though, before a frost. I wouldn't wait for them to ripen if the outside temperature starts to drop to the low 50's.They wont ripen if it gets too cold even if there isn't a frost. When it starts getting cold they will just stay like they are.

Great looking Leaf Dan! I certainly wish mine turned out that well but being a first timer I made a number of screw-ups. Next year I will be more adapt and hopefully wiser and my 14's and 11's, 5's and 18's will do just as well.

I can't wait to try this again!

Well, Dan, how about [anytime, too] you cut, hang and dry at least 6 big, GREEN plants. I mean I want premium, rich green color. THAT is what I will gladly pay for, when dry!  Very Happy
