Sorry guys..to use this forum to find out about another forum. Seems the Grow Your Own Guys have a problem with Hosting right now.
I enquired here because I couldn't figure it out and I had 4 PM's that I could not address after trying off and on all day.
I figured we all visit the same places to gain knowledge as we grow our Baccy.

I maybe should have approached this is some different way than opening a New Thread....which I didn't realize I had done until I posted.

I apologize if I have undermined this site. Not purposely.

Hi --

Guy, I'm sure Dan won't mind. I got an update on howtogrowtobacco.com yesterday and they are moving to yet another new site and should be back up within a couple of days as the new domain propagates.

Hey Guy, No problem. In fact bob and I have exchanged a few emails discussing how to give him some control over this forum because as I told him in an email, I really don't know much about this stuff. I grow a great tobacco plant and I have access to some of the best locally grown leaf in this area but - computers - nah. That's not my bag. So eventually we (Bob and myself) will figure this moderating forum stuff and when we do I'm sure bob will get this forum looking and working great.

PS I hope "howtogrowtobacco.com" does resurface. It was a great site.

Green tobacco Not good. I hope it starts turning soon but if you have to pick it then hang the plants close. This might just extend the drying out of the leaf long enough for them to turn yellow then brown. You'll have to keep an eye on them. Fluff them and turn the plants so some air gets into the bundle but keep the bundle fairly tight. I drill a half inch hole through the stem and string baling twine through them then hang them up on the wire hooks. If you do something like this you can turn them and fluff them easier.
Here's an example of what I mean;

Good luck.

Dan....you are a great guy...and ethical. I can't wait to get Cigar seed or Cigar leaves from you. I am so glad that you quite smoking cigarettes. Then again, you didn't smoke that  many any way or so that was my thinking. Still I hope you will still grow the Ciggy leaves for us that can't quit! Very Happy

Back to Cigars....I have never rolled a cigar..or even know how to do that...but I feel sure that You can explain that and tell me.
I am a cigarette smoker...previous pipe smoker...love cigars but can't afford them lately. Really-really love cigars but can't afford the Shop prices...then again I pay out the a** to discover that expensive cigar I just tried sucked.

If I am not mistaken..you do sell leaf cigar tobacco..right? If I can figure out how to do fillers and outer wrappers..then Dan..help me have a cigar!

Hi --

Guy, a great place for this discussion would be in Processing Tobacco -> Cigars located here -- http://tobaccotalk.myfastforum.org/forum34.php

Open a new topic called How Do I Make A Cigar? and let the members give you some advice there.

I've tried to categorize the tobacco experience so that it is easier for new members to find out what they want to know. I don't think I have a storing tobacco forum yet, maybe, so I guess I'll go make one!

Okay, good idea Bob about the "tobacco processing forum" sounds like a good site to post "how to" stuff with tobacco. I have to try to get used to all these new forums myself. It's like when Tina brought our first computer home. I never wanted a computer, they intimidated me. But once I learned my way around the keyboard it got better and better. Now they just piss me off sometimes when I go to a site that promises something and you keep having to click and click jumping thru hoops to get what you want and you finally find out that you can't get what was promised. All right I'm venting. Back on subject.
Guy, I'm working on something that I hope I can pull off. If I am successful I guarantee you that you will be able to roll a great cigar. No bull.
So hang in I'll try to get it done soon but it's like I was telling Bob the other night on the phone, It takes me a little longer than most people to go from the idea stage to the finished product.
If I can get this done I'll post it on the Processing Tobacco forum and let you know it's there.

Thanks Bob and Dan.
I can get lost in a two car funeral!
I just get lost on a lot of forums. Sometimes I spend hours trying to find a post I need to re-read but seems the harder I try to find it I can't so then I post on something similar in hopes I will get an answer. Thank you all for being so accommodating. Some sites aren't as forgiving as this one!

Yeah I think seed company's should start telling the truth about how long each variety really takes from seed to ripen.
