OK I've seen this before but. I was out bowling yesterday and blacklights were on. Now if you have never seen a cig under a blacklight you would have no clue what I'm talking about. What is the liquid that shows up in a commercial cigarette? Does a homegrown cigarette look like that also? I'm guessing its ammonia. I think I'm hitting ebay to get me 1.

| I've checked my tobacco plants at night with a black light looking for bugs etc. and there was no shine from the plants, just some bird poop that was mildly florescent. My guess is that it's some additive. |

Hi --
I feel so guilty. I found the reference about black lights showing up hornworms and posted it on another forum....and I never got any solid evidence they did from anyone and now we'll have to wait until next season...I guess I could've tried to motivate more people to try it or ordered a battery black light myself....

| Bob, I tried it, no worms that I could find. Strung 50 foot of extension cord and used my 'portable black light'. lol |

Hi --
Wydeboi, I remember you did that. Did you know there were hornworms out there at the time? Maybe you didn't have any?

| Bob, I was just experimenting with the black light, I never had any horn worms, my worst enemies were slugs and snails. |

I can find Hornworms for ya without a blacklight bob. Just look for poop castings & holes in leafs. (problem solved) _________________ ***PEACE SELLS*** |

Hi --
Well, the idea is to catch the little suckers early while they are tiny, before the strip a whole leaf off and get big enough to find easily!
I'm going to move this thread to the Pests and Diseases forum since it has turned into that, and maybe change the title to Funding Hornworms with Blacklights, unless you object, vredeman....

You can move me all the way to Texas for all I care bob. I'm just trying to post some new or interesting posts here. Allot of topic's take off in different directions normally for the better.
I went out tonight and bought a 24inch black light for numerous reasons. One of them is to inspect my tobacco under it. I think it will be interesting using it during the fermenting or color curing process. Also it works great to see how clean your house really is.
Also I'm getting into playing around with Germicidal bulbs which are close but have lower wavelengths to a black light. I'm not a germaphobe er nothing. I think once a week you should eat food off the floor. And I also believe in the 3 second rule. But if I make it this winter without 1 bad flu or chest cold. I will swear by them.
I'm installing 30 watts of them in my furnace & maybe I'll even use it on my Tobacco. This light will kill ALL fungus Mold and Bactria/germs in the air/water with UV rays. It costs $3-400 to have 30 watts installed professionally. I'm doing it for around $35 with basic fixtures and UVC bulbs. You install them near filters Cold air ducts & AC condensers. They can damage your eyes severely so their nothing you want to play with without protection. Hospitals, Government Buildings, Fish Tanks, Air filters, & Restaurants have been using them for years for sterilization. _________________ ***PEACE SELLS*** |
