Hi --
Been a while since I posted and the plants are looking pretty good. Here's some pics, they are in 4" pots. I think I have around 550 plants total. I'm growing some in shadier place than others to see which is better, the ones in more Sun do better. I did put them all in shade for a few days to 5 days first before moving to full Sun.
This is the Silk Leaf seed, supposed to be an heirloom variety from the 30's and 40's for cigarettes. I found out that in Texas there's a wild tobacco that grows from the Edwards Plateau and South of there, but I'm farther North. I may bag the flowers of the mother plants used to make seeds anyway to stop cross-pollination with others. Think I can use cheese cloth?

I put 2 clear (opaque) panels in the roof of my barn. That was supposed to be my greenhouse. I built the barn for my wife and I was supposed to get that 10'x8' section of the upstairs for myself. That lasted about two years then it started to fill up with her tack and other junk. Now I'm down to an aquarium on milk crates.
Here are some seeds I put in about a week ago:
I usually make a seed planting in February in my house. I put them in a small aquarium in a south window. Then I make another seeding in this set up in my barn around the middle of April. Finally I set up my outdoor cold frame around May 10. |

Nice Greenhouse!!
even the floor looks worthy...
your plants look vigorous to say the least.
How hot does your greenhouse get?
Thanks

Hi --
I have an evaporative cooler at one end andI get about 15 degrees colder than ambient, call it 100 outside and 85 at the cooler, but it's 50 feet long and by the time the air gets over to the fans, we're running back at close to 100F, that's why we keep the cactus at that end.
